and means 'paper' or 'papyrus'. Byblos is also the
name of an ancient city in Lebanon.

Lebanon is unique among world countries in being at the crossroads of 3 continents: Africa, Asia and Europe. The city of Byblos is located on the Mediterranean Sea, in the lee of Mount Lebanon, and has a moderate climate and beautiful scenery. In its long history, Byblos has attracted many famous conquerors including Ramses II, Sargon, Darius, Alexander the Great, the Caesars, Salahuddin, Tamerlane, Hulaghy Khan and Napoleon. For thousands of years, these important historical figures left their imprint on this fascinating city.
